What is this!

He's started reaching out for things he sees, like books, toys and...himself.

Hello there, handsome

He is vocalising and cooing a lot, which is absolutely adorable.

And he has also started bringing things to his mouth to suck on.

Why won't both fit?

There's a lot of drooling out in our house right now, and I know it's only going to get worse.  

Now that I have a baby of my very own, I think human development is absolutely fascinating.  I should have paid closer attention in my Child Development classes in grad school.  I woke up this morning with the words of Psalm 139:14 in my mind:

  "I will praise you because I am 
fearfully and wonderfully made, 
your works are wonderful, 
I know that full well."  

I get the wonderful idea, but today I'm meditating on what it means to be fearfully made.
