Last week I finally felt brave enough to head into town to the fabric store.  I consider it an accomplishment given that the parking in that part of town terrifies me.  And now, I only have a two hour window between naps.  But I did it!

The store's name is Kamdar.  It calls itself a department store because it sells home stuff and clothing also, but I was there for the fabric.

Sadly, this is not Joann Fabrics.  On a positive note, it is very colorful.  I would say that about 90 percent of their fabric is polyester, because that is what is typically worn here.  Fortunately they have a nice selection of basic, solid cotton fabric, which is what I was on the hunt for.  I found exactly what I was looking for.

Very typical of the Malaysian shopping experience, someone is always following you around.  In this case, it is the person that will be cutting your fabric.  You tell them what you want and they cut it for you, right there.  The first time I shopped here I was surprised that you can't buy anything less than a meter.

On the way home, miracle of miracles, Ellis fell asleep in the car - exactly at the time when his nap was supposed to be.

Lesson learned, I guess he sleeps better when his hands are full!
I came home with nine meters of fabric and a lot of crafting to do!
