Bibs are useless.  The first thing Ellis does in his high chair is rip it off.  Forget snaps or velcro.  Enter the baby bib/apron, otherwise known as the "bapron".  I made two when I was the the U.S. before baby and I'm so glad I did.  I love them so much that I recently made another one.  It's a quick project, with just four pieces of bias tape and two pieces of fabric.  I found the pattern here (it was free when I downloaded it).
I used blue gingham fabric for the back.  It's reversible.

The best part about the bapron is that it's long enough that Ellis doesn't notice he's wearing it and even if he does, he can't get it off because his arms go through it and it ties at the back.  It's basically a cute baby straight jacket.

Best bib ever.
