Rice cooker

Have you met my rice cooker?

This is one spectacular machine.  It's a rice cooker, slow cooker, steamer, cake-baker, and an all around multi-tasker.  I've never tried to bake a cake in it, but the thought intrigues me.  We make a lot of rice in it (obviously), but I also use it a lot as a slow cooker.  It functions just like a crock-pot would on high.  Slow cooker meals are definitely a life saver for me right now.

I use it to make one of my favorite meals these days, pumpkin curry.  I've tried a handful of slow-cooker curries and I'm always disappointed.  Plus, why bother making curry when we can eat awesome Indian food right outside our door?  I wouldn't really consider this a real curry, but I don't know what else I would call it.  It's made with chicken, pureed pumpkin, carrots, sweet potatoes, coconut milk, and garam masala.  It's easy (and mild if you can't do spicy food).  It's super orange and healthy.  And Ellis loves this stuff.  He finished all the portions of it I froze for him, in fact, so it's about time to make another batch.  Try it sometime!

In the beginning: the pumpkin.
