Things I am doing instead of blogging

1. Toilet training.  It took a month or two, but Ellis is out of diapers now except for nights.  As nice as it is now that the worst of it is over, a bathroom-going toddler presents its own host of complications here, which would include some terrible public restrooms.

2. Trains are the first thing Ellis goes to in the morning, and the last thing he plays with at night.  He could, and sometimes does, literally play with them all day.  Reuben is really getting into this too and Ellis is amassing quite a collection.

4. Ellis has learned the alphabet.  I spend most of my time trying to explain the difference between b, d, q, and p.  Why, oh why, did we make the alphabet like this?

5. I spend hours every day reading to Ellis.  It turns out I am very picky about children's books and there's nothing worse that having to read a terrible book over and over again.  I've spent some time getting rid of the annoying ones and searching the library for good ones. I've even reading books about books, in my spare time.  Our favorites lately include Harold and the Purple Crayon, The Very Quiet Cricket, Little Blue Truck, and Blueberries for Sal.

6. I just submitted my very overwhelming ballot for the election next week.  There were 31 things on the ballot in my county this year, covering everything from president to county treasurer, changes to the state constitution, and public school superintendents.  I've spent several hours doing research for it, and I can't wait for it all to be over.

7. I've been loving listening to podcasts lately.  Favorite channels include Sorta Awesome, God Centered Mom, and This American Life.  I've also started running to Revving the Word by Revelation Wellness.
