Christmas 2017 recap

A candlelight Christmas Eve service is always at the top of my favorite moments of the season.  Our service was eventful this year, to say the least.  Ellis was in tears during "Silent Night" (and not because of the beauty of the moment), I spent most of the service standing in the back soothing a fussy baby.  My thoughts this year are, if you have a problem with a crying infant or toddler during a church service, especially Christmas, take your complaint to the baby Jesus.

The "pièce de résistance" of my holiday baking this year was this star bread.  The recipes at King Arthur Flour never fail me, and I was super impressed with how easy this was.  I made the garlic butter version.  Recipe here.

Ellis went on his inaugural Christmas ride on his scooter bedazzled with lights and jingle bells.  Watch the video here.

I may have spent too much time tonight "decorating my mantle".  Now I have somewhere to hang my stockings because last year's fireplace did not make a re-appearance.  Thank you, Hallmark.com.

Merry Christmas!
