As all new moms do, I had plenty of "I'm never going to do that!" thoughts before I had kids.  Add in the cross-cultural nuances of parenting outside my home country, and there were plenty of things to feel judg-y about.  Some of them are silly (no, we will not wear matching pajamas in public), some of them are serious (I'm looking at you, parents who are driving the car while letting their kids hang out of the sunroof).  One of the more light-hearted of the bunch involves this little gem.  I don't think I've ever seen one of these in the U.S., and I suspect because it looks little bit like a death trap. But here in Asia, these baby floatation devices can be found everywhere.  They go around the babies' neck, and in the water, baby can float to his heart's content.  I found one at the thrift store the other day for a dollar, so I thought it would be fun to give it a try.  He loves it!

And while we're on the subject of swimming, a quick update on Ellis: He has started swimming on his own!  Just as I was beginning to consider swim lessons, he surprised us.
